A global study with survey responses from over 280 people in 23 countries and case study museums in two New York and London. Working to understand the relationship between architectural excellence and neurodivergence (sensory over and underloads), to understand what going ‘beyond the minimum’ looks like.

Inclusive Design vs. Universal Design vs. Design for all

Inclusive design exists under multiple labels across the globe, each with slightly different approaches working towards the same aim: creating environments that meet a diverse range of needs. Rather than debating the name of the industry, could we put our energy into innovative and inclusive designing?

Co-design processes should be occurring with a variety of user groups at every stage of the design process. Rather than dictating how to design for everyone, engagement should be prioritised to develop inclusive environments and products that people want to use and feel ownership of.
